To put a leash on this destructive force of art, I got to be bought a drawing set; a book, color pencils and crayons, too much color and media for one tiny creature! Of course some of the crayons got to be nibbled at in the course of servicing art for children! Either way this was a significant first contact with standard art material. My sets and I got married for a long time to come even when I got to know of oil paints much later at about age ten. It is the media that changed but not the enthusiasm.
Make sure your gloss paint matches your colors. Sometimes when you want your final project to have a gloss or shiny coating, you will want a gloss top coat. This can either be a spray paint or a paint you apply with a brush. There is always a danger that the chemicals in the 2 kinds of paint may not combine. When they do not work together, the paint will crack and curdle and produce what is called “orange peel” effect. Do a patch test before combining brands of paints.
Not only drawing but also other stuff I have not mentioned, papier mache which I did a lot, modeling with the famous plasticine. Always wanted to know how to use charcoal on canvas but the general mood is that is for professionals! May be one day I might just decide to hop into one of this art classes.
